Merzer’s nocturnal cognition program investigates how memory is encoded, consolidated, altered, and recalled across staged sleep. Our researchers combine precision neurochemical tools with environmental controls and continuous biometric observation.

REM Regulation
We study mechanisms associated with REM continuity, interruption, dream-state persistence, and the transition between sleeping and waking cognition.

Memory Architecture
Our programs examine the relationship between emotional salience, recall durability, and the imagery produced during sleep.

Adaptive Recovery
Merzer is developing methods for measuring restoration as a dynamic system rather than a simple measure of time asleep.

Controlled Environments
Building Z permits extended observation under consistent environmental, neurological, and behavioral conditions. Access to restricted research protocols is limited to authorized personnel and eligible participants.
